Tour Summary

Druk Wangyel Tshechu is a one day annual event that happen Dochula Pass which stands high at 3150m. The importance of this festival is that the dances are performed to celebrate the life His Majesty The Fourth King. It is also dedicated for the peace and prosperity of the people in Kingdom. It was at the command of Her Majesty Gyalyum Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck that the first tshechu was held. Scine then, it became an annual event. Druk Wangyel Tshechu means ‘Victory of Bhutan Festival’. In 2003, Bhutanese forced led by the Great Fourth King flushed out the Indian Militants who took refuge in our land. It was to mark this victory that this festival is observed.

DAY 1: PARO/THIMPHU
 
Arrive any time at Paro International Airport (2200 meters above sea level) and transfer to Thimphu.
In Thimphu (2300m), if time permits, take an orientation walk in town, do shopping and get settled in.
 
Meals Included:Dinner
Accommodations: Hotel Tara Phendeyling (or similar)

 
DAY 2: THIMPHU (DRUK WANGYEL TSHECHU)
 
Drive to Dochula Pass to witness the Druk WangyelTsechu.
 
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Evening

DAY 3: THIMPHU/PARO
 
Travel to Paro.En route, visit TaChog Lhakhang built by the famous 15th century Buddhist Master known as the Iron Bridge Builder.
Then visit the majestic Paro Rinpung Dzong, National Museum, and Kyichu Lhakhang-one of the oldest temples built in 7th century.
In the evening, have a stroll along the peaceful town of Paro.

DAY 4: HIKE to TIGER’S NEST MONASTERY
 
Hike to Paro Taktsang which is also known the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. This is one of the holiest sites in the country.
In the evening, visit a home-stay, have a hot-stone bath and witness a cultural show performed by a group of local people.

DAY 5: DEPARTURE
 
Leave Paro for your respective country.
DAY 1: PARO/THIMPHU
 
As you fly in Bhutan, you will be treated visually with high snow-clad mountain peaks, untouched dense forest and lush green paddy field.
When you walk out of the airport terminal, our guide will be greeting you in traditional Bhutanese ways—offering a silk scarf—and usher you to the car. Then, you will be travelling towards Thimphu.
In Thimphu (2300m), if time permits, we will take an orientation walk in town, do shopping and get settled in.

DAY 3: THIMPHU/PARO
 
Right after breakfast, we will begin our journey towards Paro.
En route, we will visit TaChog Lhakhang built by the famous 15th century Buddhist Master known as the Iron Bridge Builder.
After lunch at Paro, we will visit the fortress believed to be built on a heap of jewels. The fortress is called Paro Rinpung Dzong. Then we will visit the National Museum to see some of the sacred artifacts, paintings and ancient weaponries. After that, we will head towards Kyichu Lhakhang-one of the oldest temples built in 7th century.
In the evening, have a stroll along the peaceful town of Paro.

DAY 4: HIKE to TIGER’S NEST MONASTERY
 
Today, we will be hiking to the world famous Taktsang Monastery which is also known the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. This is one of the holiest sites in the country. Legends have it that the most famous Buddhist master, Guru Padmasambhava, flew riding on the back of a tigress and subdued a dreaded demon at the place where the monastery is nestled.
After coming back from Tiger’s Nest, we will visit a home-stay, have a hot-stone bath and witness a cultural show performed by a group of local people.

DAY 5: DEPARTURE
 
It’s sad for all of us but we Bhutanese believe that ‘we meet to depart’. Today, your trip to Bhutan ends. We will bid farewell to you with the hope that you will come back some other days.
We will be there at Paro Airport until you fly back to your country.
